As you know that power is P=i^2  * R   where R is external resistance (load) and i is current drawn by it .

While i   =  E /(R+r) where r is internal resistance.

For maximum power R=r so P becomes E^2   /4r 

option D may be correct after the correction:- there should be r in denominator alongwith 4 .
